Something big is happening here.

Expect larger events.

And more of them.

In January 2023, Seattle Convention Center

opened the new Summit building,

a LEED Platinum architectural wonder

that broadens Seattle’s appeal as an event destination.

Pike Pine Streetscape

and Bicycle Improvements

Funded in part by Seattle Convention Center, you’ll soon enjoy a safe and comfortable pedestrian experience from Seattle Convention Center to the Waterfront.

The upgraded Pike St. and Pine St. corridors will feature expanded sidewalks, additional trees, new ground plantings, protected bike lanes, and other attractive features.

Inside the Summit

The striking Hillclimb features a wooden staircase

enclosed in glass, cantilevered over the sidewalk.

From here, you can gaze down over Pine Street

towards Pike Place Market and Elliott Bay.

Waterfront Seattle

Scheduled for completion in early 2025, highlights include Overlook Walk, an elevated public park connecting Pike Place Market to the Waterfront, and the new Park Promenade, which stretches from the family-friendly Waterfront Park (formerly Pier 58) to Railroad Way and the stadiums.

Seattle Stadium

Seattle will host six matches

for FIFA World Cup 2026.

As one of the 16 hosts of the

world’s most-watched sporting event,

Seattle is expecting as many as

750,000 visitors!

(That’s the population of Seattle.)

The fun begins in June 2026

with four group-stage matches

(including one with the USA team)

and continues in July 2026

with two elimination matches.

A virtuous cycle of investment

into Seattle’s future

will benefit visitors, businesses,

and residents alike.

FIFA selected Seattle as a host city

for its investments

into infrastructure,

including 5 mega-projects

directly supporting tourism and travel

  1. Upgrade SEA represents a five-year capital plan from Port of Seattle to expand concourses, improve checkpoints, optimize baggage handling, renovate restrooms, improve roadways, and much more. Cost: $5.6 billion
  2. Sound Transit just opened its East Link Extension for light rail from Bellevue to Redmond, with service connecting to Seattle scheduled for 2025. Cost: $3.7 billion.
  3. Seattle Convention Center Summit nearly doubles the space and more than doubles the capacity of Seattle Convention Center to host events of all sizes. Cost: $1.9 billion
  4. Climate Pledge Arena improves the entire Seattle Center experience, including upgrades to Seattle Center Monorail connecting to Downtown Seattle. Cost: $1.15 billion
  5. Waterfront Seattle creates an enticing promenade for the city, with connections to Pike Place Market, the Stadiums, Belltown, and the Olympic Sculpture Park. Cost: $806 million
